John Karl is Regional Vice President, Central Midwest, Burns & Wilcox, where he oversees the company’s business throughout Missouri, Kansas and Colorado.  

In his role, John focuses on driving the company’s aggressive growth strategy across these three states as it expands its regional footprint and continues to develop its expertise. The Central Midwest region specializes in Commercial Insurance, including Casualty, Property and Management Liability.

With over 25 years of insurance industry experience, John has worked with Burns & Wilcox for more than 11 years, previously serving as Corporate Vice President for the Kansas office. Prior to Burns & Wilcox, he held a variety of impactful leadership roles at Zurich Insurance during his tenure of nearly 14 years.

Dedicated to helping others learn and grow in their careers, he has been actively involved in the Kaufman Advanced Management Program (KAMP) and Kaufman Emerging Leaders Program (KELP). As an active member of the Kansas Independent Insurance Association, he often participates in speaking engagements, addressing topics such as state of the market and Excess & Surplus lines.

John holds producer licenses in Property & Casualty and Life & Health in all 50 states. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in marketing and psychology from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri.
