Nick Esty

Broker, Professional Liability

I was born and raised in Maine and studied at the University of Southern Maine where I graduated with a degree in Finance and Business Management with a Risk Management and Insurance concentration. During my time in college, I worked for two years at Unum, a Fortune 500 employee benefits company, in their underwriting department. I was also the president of my college's chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma, an RMI club where I was able to strengthen the connection between USM students and the local insurance industry. When I first learned about the excess and surplus lines industry, I knew that that was where I wanted my career path to take me. As a 2018 WSIA intern I experienced working for an E&S carrier in Arizona and a wholesale broker in California which helped me learn the dynamic between the two.
After graduating college, I began my career at an MGA as a marketing representative in USLI's 50/50 program. During this two-year intensive sales training program I was able to build relationships with our agency partners and help them write tough to place risks. Upon completion of this program, I transitioned to the professional lines team as an associate broker working on servicing renewals and writing new business. In my current role as a professional liability broker at Burns & Wilcox I look forward to being a trusted advisor and learning how I can help serve the needs of your agency.
Outside of my career I enjoy travelling, concert going, and spending time outdoors hiking, fishing, and cycling.
