Forgotten Harvest received a $40,000 donation from Nationwide Private Client and Burns & Wilcox to help relieve hunger and prevent nutritious food waste in Metropolitan Detroit. Nationwide donated $18,627 through their Partners in Giving program and Burns & Wilcox contributed $21,373 through employee donations, a Kaufman family donation, and a company match.
Private Client is Nationwide’s personal lines carrier focused on the affluent market. Its appointed independent agents are offered an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others with charitable donations in their local communities through the Partners in Giving program.
“People care deeply about organizations with a social mission. They are more likely to support businesses that share their commitment to making a difference,” says Molly Rondeau, vice president of national sales, underwriting and risk solutions, Nationwide Private Client. “Partners in Giving enables Private Client agents to direct donations to one of the charitable organizations we support, with an emphasis on strengthening our communities and improving people’s lives.”
“Philanthropy is at the core our near 50-year heritage at Burns & Wilcox, as we believe that success and community giving go hand-in-hand,” said Alan Jay Kaufman, chairman, president and CEO, H.W. Kaufman Financial Group and Burns & Wilcox. “Working with organizations like Forgotten Harvest is a point of pride for everyone on our team. We are appreciative for the generosity of Nationwide Private Client and our team members.”
“This generous support will provide $40,000 worth of food to the hungry in metro Detroit,” says Kirk Mayes, CEO, Forgotten Harvest. “Forgotten Harvest could not support those in need in our community without generous community partners like Burns & Wilcox and Nationwide Private Client.”
To date, Private Client has contributed $470,000 to organizations in Arizona, California, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Texas and Washington through the Private Client Partners in Giving program. Nationwide Private Client has committed an additional $560,000 in Partners in Giving charitable donations for distribution throughout 2016.
